jQuery and Microsoft - ScottGu's Blog

I just have to note this announcement from Scott Guthrie: jQuery and Microsoft - ScottGu's Blog: "I'm excited today to announce that Microsoft will be shipping jQuery with Visual Studio going forward." Microsoft shipping jQuery? What's the world coming to? I'm sure that Leon will be happy, even if it's not Prototype.

No, this is a win, plain and simple. I'm excited to see this added in and excited to start using it!

I knew you'd be happy with this development. It is great to see Microsoft moving in this direction.

Yeah, the more I think about this, the more excited I am about it. If you think about it, a few years ago they would have pushed to either buy it or fork it and close the source. Instead no fork, it ships as is, and under the existing MIT license. I've been waiting for MS to do the right thing with the OSS community and not half-ass it. This is a huge step for them and I'm glad to see it happen with such a great library.

Do you think the prototype guys are feeling dissed right now?
